About the role
Role Overview
Contract Mobile Game Developer (Java / libGDX) working remote for 10–40 hrs/week. You’ll build and maintain simple 2D game features and collaborate with AI specialists to support engaging gameplay and training-data collection.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and optimize 2D game features using Java and libGDX
- Collaborate with AI specialists to design game interactions and collect high-quality training data
- Implement core mechanics such as:
- Sprite management
- Game loops
- Input handling
- Troubleshoot, debug, and improve performance and reliability of game modules
- Participate in code reviews and help improve internal coding standards
- Document technical processes and workflows clearly for cross-functional teams
Requirements
- Basic knowledge of Java and object-oriented principles
- Hands-on experience with libGDX (coursework, personal projects, or prototypes)
- Understanding of fundamental game concepts: game loops, sprites, input management
- Strong written and verbal communication, especially for technical documentation
- Ability to work effectively in a fully remote team
- Interest and initiative in building games or interactive applications
Nice-to-Haves
- Demonstrated experience partnering with AI teams / working on data collection for training
