About the role
Role Overview
Apex Systems is hiring two mid-level Mobile Developers to support backend infrastructure modifications that directly affect mobile applications. The work focuses on the decommissioning of WebSphere services currently integrated with mobile apps, collaborating with existing mobile teams to ensure a smooth transition.
Responsibilities
- Analyze current mobile app integrations with backend services (architecture and dependencies)
- Identify hook points where WebSphere services are invoked in the apps
- Remove and decommission WebSphere service calls with minimal application disruption
- Perform comprehensive testing and validation to ensure stability and performance post-removal
- Collaborate with mobile teams on modernization efforts (e.g., bill pay and Zelle integrations)
- Document changes and provide technical support during migration
- Stay current with mobile development trends and best practices
Requirements
- iOS: 3–5 years experience with Xcode and CocoaPods; MVVM, SwiftUI, Combine, and reactive programming
- Android: 3–5+ years experience with Android Studio and Gradle; MVVM, Kotlin, RxJava, and reactive programming
- Experience integrating mobile apps with web services / cloud platforms
- Exposure to infrastructure-heavy environments and backend service integrations
Preferred
- Apps published to the App Store (iOS or Android)
- Experience with payment platforms
- Familiarity with WebSphere services

- Based in San Antonio, Texas
- Remote flexibility within the United States
