About the role
Role Overview
Carrier is seeking a Software Engineer I (Mobile) to support development of residential mobile applications, including the Smart Home App (SHA) and Service Technician App (STA). This is an early-career role focused on feature delivery, defect resolution, testing, and release readiness for API-driven, connected-device workflows.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain mobile application features using JavaScript and TypeScript
- Build UI components and application logic with React Native
- Implement API integrations for mobile functionality
- Diagnose and resolve defects (reproduce issues, validate fixes)
- Participate in code reviews and improve code quality/consistency
- Perform unit testing and assist with integration/regression testing
- Support CI/CD pipelines and help with mobile release processes
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, QA engineers, and backend developers
- Apply secure coding practices (authentication, secure data storage)
- Participate in issue triage during U.S. Eastern Time business hours
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a Hard Science
- 7+ years software engineering experience
- 4+ years shipping production Android and iOS mobile applications
- 3+ years hands-on experience with React Native and TypeScript
- 2+ years integrating Android/iOS mobile apps with GraphQL or REST APIs
- Must be a permanent resident (no sponsorship)
- Ability to overlap with U.S. Eastern Time: 4 hours daily between 8:00 AM–12:00 PM ET
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript from projects or coursework
- Hands-on React Native experience building mobile or web apps
- Experience integrating REST APIs/web services in projects or coursework
- Understanding of state management (props/state or centralized stores)
- Experience deploying to iOS App Store / Google Play
- Experience with REST or GraphQL in production or projects
- Exposure to state management libraries (not fully shown in posting)
