About the role

Role overview

Senior Full-Stack Mobile Developer (Permanent) for a SaaS platform used in logistics and field-based services. The role is remote with 1 day per month in Edinburgh for an on-site interview, with a focus on building high-quality mobile and web capabilities end-to-end.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain mobile and web applications using modern JavaScript technologies
  • Deliver scalable features and APIs with a focus on performance, reliability, and security
  • Contribute to system architecture, code quality, and long-term maintainability
  • Own delivery end-to-end (concept through to production)
  • Work with relational databases (SQL) and backend integrations
  • Apply engineering best practices: testing, CI/CD, and version control (Git)
  • Collaborate with Product, QA, DevOps, and cross-functional teams
  • Identify and resolve performance, scalability, and operational challenges
  • Participate in code reviews and promote engineering best practices
  • Mentor and support other engineers
  • Improve documentation, monitoring, and observability
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Requirements

Frontend & Mobile (Essential)

  • Strong experience with React Native (modern)
  • TypeScript proficiency (fully typed applications)
  • Redux for state management
  • Strong understanding of CSS/styling approaches (e.g., Tailwind CSS, Flexbox, Grid)
  • Experience building and maintaining Android apps
  • Experience building and maintaining iOS apps
  • Unit testing experience using Jest

Backend (Essential)

  • Strong experience with PHP
  • Experience with modern PHP frameworks (preferably Symfony, Laravel or others acceptable)
  • Strong proficiency with SQL and relational databases
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab CI)

Nice to haves

  • Expo for React Native
  • i18n for multi-language/multi-region apps
  • Native mobile features: Redux Persist/local storage, GPS location, camera (QR/barcode), Mapbox SDK
  • Doctrine ORM
  • Codeception for testing
