About the role
Role Overview
BCBST is hiring a React Native Mobile App Developer on the Mobile Solutions team. You will design, build, and support customer-facing enterprise mobile applications for iOS and Android, partnering with product, design, and backend teams to deliver scalable, high-performing experiences.
This is a remote (work-from-home) role aligned to Eastern working hours, but the final interview round is on-site in the Chattanooga, TN office. There is an on-call rotation of 1 week every 6–7 weeks. Sponsorship is not available.
Responsibilities
- Define system scope and objectives through research and fact-finding for complex systems
- Design, develop, modify, integrate, test, debug, and document application code
- Optimize functional requirements (capacity, response time, operating time, and output results)
- Integrate APIs and third-party services; troubleshoot distributed system issues
- Develop reusable components and improve application performance across devices
- Participate in project team efforts (e.g., project lead/technical lead roles for smaller or medium efforts)
- Maintain and apply required skills for relevant platforms and supporting technologies
- Respond to system failures and performance events to reduce downtime and prevent recurrence
- Provide guidance and training to less-experienced team members
- Contribute to engineering best practices via code reviews and continuous improvement
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- Experience/knowledge of:
- Information technology concepts and application development methodology/terminology/standards
- Systems and programming experience
- Expert working knowledge of at least one programming language used at BCBST
- Strong ability to analyze, design, code, and lead complex projects
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts for technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Organized, reliable, and able to manage multiple tasks
Nice to Have
- Publishing apps to Apple App Store and Google Play Store
- Native integrations: push notifications, biometrics, device APIs
- API debugging tools such as Postman or Fiddler
- CI/CD pipeline experience
- Native mobile development with Swift, Kotlin, or Java
- Familiarity with emerging mobile technologies
- Strong React architecture and state management knowledge
Work Model / Logistics
- Remote aligned to Eastern Time
- Final interview: on-site in Chattanooga, TN
- On-call rotation: 1 week every 6–7 weeks
