About the role

Join PetLab Co., a fast-growing direct-to-consumer brand, as a Mid-Weight Product Designer. In this role, you will create digital experiences that balance customer needs, brand, usability, and commercial performance. You will work across multiple areas of the customer journey, collaborate with a highly skilled design team, and have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the business. Profile: - You have strong visual and UI fundamentals and can take an experience from journey mapping, wireframes and prototypes through to polished interfaces, considering different user states along the way - You want to understand what happens after launch, using customer behaviour, conversion data and experiment results to inform your next iteration - As the business grows, you’ll be willing to apply your skills where they can make the greatest difference - You understand how customers shop online and how changes to hierarchy, messaging and interactions can reduce friction and improve conversion - You’re comfortable with shifting priorities and a varied remit - You’re a mid-weight UX/UI or Product Designer with solid experience within a direct-to-consumer brand or similarly fast-moving e-commerce business - You’re commercially curious, too - Mid-Weight UX/UI Experience – You’ve developed enough experience to independently take on design problems while still enjoying collaboration, feedback and learning from senior designers - Think Fast, Move Fast – You’re energised by a high-velocity environment where priorities can change and there is always another interesting problem around the corner - Commercially Minded – You understand that great customer experience and commercial performance aren’t opposing goals and actively look for solutions that deliver both - Data Curious – You’re comfortable looking beyond the design file to understand how customers behave and whether your work is performing - Driven to Excellence – You care deeply about the quality of your work while understanding when speed, iteration and learning are more valuable than chasing perfection - Conversion Mindset – You understand that conversion is a critical measure of digital design performance and have experience designing or optimising customer journeys with commercial outcomes in mind - Organised & Dependable – You can manage multiple workstreams and priorities without losing sight of the details - Collaborative – You enjoy working with other designers and cross-functional partners and can clearly explain the thinking behind your decisions - Strong UX Fundamentals – You can translate problems into journeys, flows, wireframes and prototypes before moving into execution - Can-Do Attitude – You’re positive, pragmatic and happy to roll your sleeves up. When something needs doing, you focus on how we can make it happen - Figma Proficiency – You’re highly comfortable designing and collaborating in Figma and understand components, libraries and scalable design systems - Strong UI Craft – You have a keen eye for hierarchy, typography, spacing, layout and interaction and can create polished experiences across desktop and mobile - DTC / E-commerce Experience – You have hands-on experience designing digital experiences for a direct-to-consumer brand, e-commerce business or similarly conversion-focused environment - Understand the nuances of designing for DTC and e-commerce customers - Can take a problem from initial thinking and wireframes through to high-quality UI - Enjoy moving between different products, journeys and commercial challenges - Love designing polished, intuitive digital experiences that drive measurable results - Have a positive, can-do attitude and aren’t afraid to roll your sleeves up when something needs to get done - Enjoy collaborating with other designers while being comfortable owning your own work - Thrive in a fast-moving environment where priorities and challenges can change - Think about conversion and customer behaviour, not just aesthetics
