About the role
Role Overview
Mid to Senior Construction Project Manager (Low Voltage) for MGAC’s Critical Environments team. The role supports data centers and hospitals as an owner’s representative, leading high-visibility projects with responsibility for scope, schedule, budget, and design coordination.
Location & Travel
- Remote work allowed, but requires travel to client/office locations including: Ashburn (VA), Atlanta (GA), Columbus (OH), Fort Wayne (IN), Richmond (VA)
- Travel: about 1–2x per month or as client needs change
What You’ll Be Doing
Project Leadership
- Independently manage the full scope of projects while managing components of others
- Mentor and lead teams; manage schedule, scope, and budget
- Own project risk management, contingency planning, and schedule/budget recovery
- Help achieve and maintain the client’s vision as a trusted partner
Design Management
- Manage design platforms and documentation, including Autodesk / Procore:
- file structure, compliance, schedules, design packages
- QA/QC of issued drawings
- Lead design coordination across partners (EOR alignment, VE discussions, lessons learned, consistent information sharing)
- Oversee construction administration activities (A&E meetings, submittals/RFIs, site walks, mock-ups)
- Support change management and cost impact reviews, including tenant/customer design integration
- Serve as the primary liaison between PM/CM teams and A&E partners
Financial & Contract Management
- Ensure timely invoicing and collection
- Identify and secure add-services opportunities
Collaboration & Communication
- Build relationships with clients, A&E professionals, contractors/GCs, vendors, and internal teams
- Anticipate risks and resolve complex challenges and conflicts
- Conduct requirements gathering and needs assessments
Requirements
- 3+ years of construction project management with understanding of building design and construction processes
- Bachelor’s/Associate’s (or equivalent) in a construction-related discipline
- 2+ years managing critical environment construction projects (e.g., data centers, labs, hospitals)
- 5+ years focused on project management in telecommunications / low-voltage / fiber optics construction
- MEP experience in ground-up construction necessary
- Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills (verbal/written/presentation)
