Mid-Senior Site Reliability Engineer Kubernetes Platform

Role Overview

Mid-Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) for the Kubernetes Platform, based in San Jose, CA with a remote option. You’ll own key parts of the Kubernetes platform, improve reliability and automation, and support FedRAMP/DoD compliance efforts.

Responsibilities

• Own and operate Kubernetes platform components (deployment, upgrades, maintenance)
• Design and implement scalable, reliable platform features
• Build and improve automation/tooling and CI/CD workflows to reduce operational overhead
• Monitor system health, respond to issues, and participate in on-call and incident response
• Define and track SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets
• Support FedRAMP High / IL5 compliance (system hardening, documentation, audit readiness)
• Collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional teams
• Participate in post-incident reviews and implement follow-ups

Requirements (Must Have)

• 8+ years of experience in SRE, DevOps, or platform engineering
• Hands-on Kubernetes and production containerized workloads
• Hands-on cloud experience (AWS, Azure, or similar; GovCloud a plus)
• Strong Linux systems, networking, and distributed systems fundamentals
• Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform)
• Ability to write/maintain scripts or services (Python, Go, Bash)
• Monitoring/observability (Prometheus, Grafana, logging)
• Basic security/compliance understanding (e.g., NIST 800-53, STIGs, RMF)

• Service mesh (Istio, Linkerd)
• Policy-as-code (OPA/Gatekeeper, Kyverno)
• GitOps workflows
• Multi-cluster or hybrid cloud architecture experience
• FIPS-compliant systems or DoD Cloud SRG knowledge
• FedRAMP High / DoD IL5 exposure
• CI/CD and deployment automation (e.g., ArgoCD)
• Container security and vulnerability management
• Experience in regulated/audited environments
