Mid Level Front End Engineer

Role Overview

Mid-level Front-End Engineer at Cedar, building the consumer-facing web app people use to understand whether Cedar can get them into a home. This is an ownership-heavy role for an early hire on a small team where AI tooling helps you ship faster—while you remain responsible for verification and outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Build and own the consumer-facing web app using React, TypeScript, and Next.js.
• Use Cedar’s AI tooling to ship quickly, and help improve the tooling over time.
• Translate complex financial logic into clear, trustworthy user interfaces.
• Partner with design and product to take work from idea/design handoff through release.
• Own features end-to-end: build, release, monitor usage, and iterate.
• Maintain a high bar in code review, write tests that matter, and debug issues to root cause.
• Produce accessible UI and ensure testing/validation is thorough.

Requirements

• ~3+ years building production web apps with React and TypeScript.
• Strong HTML/CSS skills; able to ensure the experience works well on mobile.
• Experience with APIs using REST and/or GraphQL.
• Testing is part of your workflow (not an afterthought).
• Comfortable working independently and collaborating closely with product/design/engineering.
• Excitement about using and improving AI tooling while validating results yourself.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with Figma and strong design judgment.
• Prior accessibility experience with WCAG.

Compensation & Benefits

• Total cash compensation: $100K–$150K (base + discretionary bonus) plus significant equity and benefits.

• Remote-first, full-time.
