Member of Technical Staff (Reporting & Statements, Backend Engineer)

Role overview

You’ll join Anchorage Digital as a founding engineer on the Reporting & Statements team. You will design and implement systems that power financial reports and statements, ensuring accuracy and consistency across internal and external consumers.

Key missions

• Design and implement APIs: Build RESTful APIs and GraphQL endpoints to serve financial data to product teams and external clients.
• Integration layer: Create a service integration layer between backend services and the data platform, with reliable data flow and robust error handling.
• Data contracts & SLAs: Partner with data engineers on data contracts and SLAs to ensure seamless integration between the data engine and API layer.
• API design leadership: Champion API design best practices and contribute to technical roadmap planning.

Responsibilities (implied)

• Own services end-to-end in production with a focus on reliability, observability, and maintainability.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with data engineering and product teams.
• Support deployment, monitoring, and incident response for the systems you build.

Requirements

• 5–7+ years building backend systems and shipping production APIs/services handling complex business logic at scale.
• Data-intensive backend experience with databases such as PostgreSQL and/or BigQuery, including query optimization, connection pooling, and data consistency patterns.
• API design experience with Go or Python and building REST APIs.
• Cloud-native development, preferably on GCP, including containerization, monitoring, and incident response.
• Experience collaborating with data engineering teams and understanding data stack patterns (e.g., data warehouses, orchestration, CDC).
• Financial/fintech domain knowledge where data accuracy and auditability are critical.
• GraphQL experience building GraphQL APIs and understanding tradeoffs vs REST.

Nice-to-haves

• Preferably GCP experience.
• Experience with reporting/statement-style financial data products (by domain alignment).
