About the role
Role Overview
Under the direction of the Editorial Director, the Medical Editor ensures the editorial quality of medical communications content, including medical editing for accuracy, clarity, consistency, grammar, and style.
Responsibilities
- Fact-check, substantively edit, and proofread medical communications materials (e.g., slide presentations, meeting materials, video scripts, flashcards, and websites).
- Verify layouts and digital programming for completeness and accuracy against manuscript drafts and client-approved files.
- Confirm incorporation of changes into layout documents or programmed digital files produced by Creative Services.
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of reference lists.
- Identify and manage the need for copyright permissions for figures/tables, obtain permissions from publishers, and communicate costs to Account Services.
- Prepare and submit deliverables through the Veeva Vault system.
- Act as a subject-matter expert on client and AMA style, grammar, and usage, plus agency standards.
- Create, maintain, and follow project/product/client-specific style guides to ensure consistency.
- Collaborate with Medical Services and Creative Services to ensure content accuracy and communicate editorial feedback.
- Support editorial troubleshooting and brainstorming.
- Attend product status meetings to stay informed on upcoming and in-progress editorial projects.
