Role Overview

Hands-on Manager, Software Engineering for Funnel Leasing’s Living Operations team. This is a player-coach role with a 60/40 split between individual contribution and people leadership, managing 3–5 engineers. The team owns the Resident Application and the resident living experience from onboarding (pre move-in) through move-out.

Responsibilities

Lead engineering work for the Living Operations team
Ensure Resident App systems are accurate, reliable, and scalable
Write, review, and own production code and technical plans
Manage and mentor 3–5 engineers
Plan and prioritize work with Product and other stakeholders
Own and support integrations and relationships with third-party partners/vendors
Make and own technical decisions related to vendor issues/escalations
Own system monitoring, alerting, and incident response

Requirements

5+ years of professional software engineering experience building/supporting production systems
2+ years in a technical leadership role (Engineering Manager, Tech Lead, or similar)
Strong hands-on backend experience with Python and Django
Strong hands-on frontend experience with JavaScript, React, and React Native
Experience monitoring/troubleshooting/operating production systems with Datadog
Experience leading and mentoring small engineering teams
Experience owning/supporting third-party integrations
Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
