Role overview

Manager, Software Engineering (Distributed Management) leads a team building and maintaining core components that ensure reliability and scalability across multiple products. This is a hands-on leadership role collaborating with developers and stakeholders to design, build, and support large-scale distributed systems.

Responsibilities

Build, mentor, and manage a cross-functional engineering team spanning backend and frontend for distributed systems
Partner with leadership and stakeholders to align delivery with company objectives
Set and maintain high standards for design, code quality, and system reliability
Work with Product Management and Architecture teams to plan and execute the product roadmap
Balance immediate problem-solving with long-term strategic initiatives
Lead cross-team projects from inception to delivery
Provide technical guidance via code reviews and architecture support
Recruit, onboard, and develop top engineering talent; foster an inclusive culture
Participate in stand-by/on-call/off-hours responsibilities as needed

Requirements

Proven leadership experience managing distributed, remote engineering teams in Agile environments
Strong ownership mindset and ability to deliver outcomes across team boundaries
Experience shipping customer-facing features quickly while maintaining architectural integrity
Demonstrated success in hiring, onboarding, and mentoring engineers
Established engineering best practices and processes
Ability to work directly with customers on technical issues and feature improvements
Background in high-scale distributed systems, including data streaming and node management
Over 10 years industry experience, including at least 2 years in technical leadership roles
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience

Nice to have

Experience with TypeScript and Node.js
Experience with production SaaS and observability, including on-call experience
