Manager, Software Development

Role Overview

As Software Development Manager, you will lead multiple software development teams—managing delivery, technical execution, and people management—to deliver high-quality enterprise software. You’ll partner with Product, QA, architects, DevOps, and other engineering leaders to plan releases, improve predictability, and ensure quality outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Manage and lead developers, technical leads, and engineering team members; keep teams enabled and unblocked.
• Act as project and delivery manager for software projects and product initiatives.
• Plan, execute, monitor, and control work for assigned teams.
• Drive Agile evolution and continuous improvement across teams (e.g., Scrum practices, cadence, backlog readiness, sprint execution, retrospectives, cross-team coordination).
• Partner with Product on release planning, backlog prioritization, delivery sequencing, scope alignment, and dependency management.
• Ensure requirements are clear, refined, estimated, and ready for development.
• Manage team capacity, resource allocation, workload balance, and skills.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance for enterprise software development.
• Support high-level design for scalable, maintainable, secure, reliable systems, including multi-tenant systems, microservices, and cloud-hosted enterprise applications.
• Serve as a sponsor for Quality of Service, including performance, reliability, scalability, availability, maintainability, and operational readiness.
• Collaborate with QA leadership to define and improve quality metrics, test coverage, defect prevention, automation, and release readiness.
• Track delivery and engineering metrics (e.g., velocity, throughput, predictability, cycle time, defect trends, escaped defects, sprint goal achievement).
• Identify delivery/technical/quality risks and remove blockers.
• Support engineering best practices: code quality, peer reviews, CI/CD, automated testing, secure development, documentation, and operational support readiness.
• Coach and mentor team members to improve technical capability, accountability, collaboration, and delivery performance.
• Promote a culture of ownership, transparency, continuous improvement, engineering excellence, and customer-focused delivery.
