About the role
Role Overview
You will manage Platform Engineering and lead the backbone of Natera’s infrastructure. The role operates under a Platform as a Product philosophy—treating internal developers as customers to deliver a seamless self-service cloud ecosystem with enterprise-grade guardrails.
Responsibilities
- Own the vision and roadmap for Natera’s cloud, orchestration, and Kafka ecosystems (multi-year planning).
- Lead three workstreams:
- Cloud Engineering
- Orchestration
- Kafka
- Treat the internal developer platform as a world-class product:
- Understand developer friction points
- Deliver self-service experiences that balance speed and guardrails
- Drive customer success by improving internal satisfaction metrics across the engineering organization.
- Establish execution priorities in the first 6 months:
- Refine the cloud/event-streaming roadmap
- Close high-impact in-flight projects while maintaining production stability and reliability
- Align stakeholders organization-wide while reporting to the Director of Platform Engineering.
Requirements
- 8+ years experience in Cloud / Platform / Infrastructure Engineering.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience leading Staff-level engineers and managing multiple platform workstreams.
- Demonstrated product-minded leadership for developer platforms (Platform as a Product).
