Manager of Software Engineering

Role overview

Manager of Software Engineering for an AI-driven software engineering environment. You will lead and develop an engineering team, shape engineering culture, and help define modern ways to build, collaborate, and deliver technology—integrating AI-enabled practices into everyday workflows.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop software engineers through coaching, career guidance, and growth opportunities
• Build a high-performing engineering culture focused on innovation, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
• Guide teams in adopting AI-powered development tools (design workflows, evaluate outputs, apply human judgment)
• Establish AI-enabled engineering practices to improve productivity, quality, and scalability
• Define and implement engineering metrics to support decision-making and delivery performance
• Promote reusable, scalable solutions over short-term or isolated implementations
• Partner with product and business teams to translate strategic goals into engineering outcomes
• Drive Agile development practices enhanced by AI tools (planning, execution, retrospectives, team insights)
• Create governance frameworks for responsible AI usage (risk management, data handling, escalation)
• Champion experimentation and innovation while maintaining strong quality for AI-powered and non-deterministic systems

Requirements

• Proven experience managing and developing high-performing software engineering teams
• Strong software engineering foundation and understanding of modern development practices and engineering fundamentals
• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and support career progression
• Experience in software architecture and scalable system design
• Experience and/or strong interest in AI-driven development, automation, intelligent workflows, and emerging engineering technologies
• Ability to balance innovation with governance, quality standards, and risk management
• Strong cross-functional collaboration with product, engineering, and business teams
• Clear communication of technical concepts (including to non-technical audiences)
