About the role
Role Overview
Lead software engineering delivery for Firstup’s AI-enabled, customer-facing web applications. Manage and grow a distributed team of software and quality engineers while driving operational excellence and scalable technical solutions with product management and design.
Key Missions
- Design, develop, and deliver enterprise-grade customer-facing web applications using modern microservices architectures.
- Manage, mentor, and grow a distributed team (software + quality), fostering ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Drive adoption of Generative AI tools and coding agents to improve developer productivity, code quality, and innovation speed.
Responsibilities
- Translate complex business requirements into scalable technical solutions in partnership with product management and design.
- Lead engineering execution in a production-owned “you build it, you run it” environment.
- Ensure cross-functional delivery in Agile/Scrum contexts.
Requirements
- Strategic, results-oriented engineering leader who consistently delivers customer value.
- Proven success operating in a production-owned environment.
- 10+ years professional software engineering experience, including 3+ years managing and developing engineering teams.
- Deep understanding of distributed systems, cloud-native design, and microservices.
- Experience delivering Enterprise SaaS at scale.
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills in cross-functional Agile/Scrum.
- Hands-on/architectural experience with AWS (compute, storage, networking, security, monitoring).
- Experience with modern frameworks: React (frontend) and Ruby on Rails (backend) or equivalent.
- Proficiency with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases.
- Demonstrated experience leveraging Generative AI tools and coding agents in development workflows.
Nice to Have
- Exposure to HR Tech or other regulated enterprise domains.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent professional experience.
