Manager of Software Engineering (Distributed Management)

Role Overview

Join Cribl as Engineering Manager for Distributed Management. You will lead a high-performing team responsible for the reliability and scalability of multiple Cribl products in a distributed systems environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of backend and frontend engineers working on large-scale distributed systems.
• Collaborate with developers and engineering leaders on design and requirements; stay engaged with latest builds.
• Drive cross-team initiatives and projects from concept to completion, balancing short-term execution with long-term architecture.
• Shape the product roadmap and ensure alignment with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Maintain a strong engineering culture around ownership, follow-through, and collaboration.
• Work with customers to troubleshoot technical issues and support feature enhancements.

Requirements

• Strong background in high-scale distributed systems (e.g., data streaming, control plane, or node/fleet management at scale).
• TypeScript and Node.js experience (TypeScript + Node.js is a plus/expected).
• Proven track record helping teams ship customer-facing features quickly and iteratively while maintaining architectural health.
• Experience building and deploying production SaaS, including observability and on-call responsibilities.
• Demonstrated ability to hire, onboard, and mentor engineers.
• Established and promoted strong engineering practices and processes.
• Experience leading distributed/remote teams with effective delivery in a dynamic Agile environment.
• Comfort staying close to the technical work while growing leadership skills.

Nice to Have / Additional Signals

• 2+ years in a technical leadership role (team lead or engineering manager).
• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent practical experience) and 10+ years industry experience.
