Manager of Software Engineering

Role Overview

Join Alteryx as Manager of Software Engineering to lead a Data Plane Platform team. You will design, build, and operate the foundation of Alteryx’s next-generation cloud platform, partnering with Product and Architecture leadership to deliver scalable and secure platform capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of 8–10 software engineers: hiring, onboarding, performance management, and career development
• Drive technical execution and roadmap, translating strategy into actionable delivery plans
• Own team delivery, quality, operational readiness, and predictability
• Manage capacity, execution risks, dependencies, and tradeoffs to ensure reliable outcomes
• Collaborate cross-functionally to align engineering delivery with product priorities and platform strategy

Requirements

• Experience with cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud Platform
• Experience building backend services, APIs, and distributed systems using Go, Java, C#, Python, or similar
• 2+ years managing software engineering teams (hiring, coaching, performance management, career development)
• 3–5+ years leading delivery of complex software systems in SaaS/cloud/platform/distributed or enterprise environments
• Proven ability to deliver high-quality software balancing scope, schedule, quality, reliability, and operational excellence
• Experience improving engineering practices: planning/estimation, design reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, observability, incident response, technical debt management
• Strong people leadership and cross-functional partnership skills
