Manager of IT Security

Role Overview

As Manager of IT Security at Lakeshore Learning Materials, you will lead security engineers and analysts to protect the organization’s systems that serve millions of children, educators, and families. You’ll shape and scale Lakeshore’s security program as the company grows, partnering across the business to reduce risk.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of security engineers and analysts: coaching, mentoring, setting expectations, and improving individual and team performance.
• Manage day-to-day security functions including:
  • Vulnerability management
  • Incident detection and response
  • Identity and access management (IAM)
• Drive multi-year security initiatives and translate security strategy into measurable execution.
• Partner with senior stakeholders/leadership to create and maintain information security policies, procedures, and GRC documentation.
• Evaluate and implement security technologies/controls, including proof-of-concept testing and vendor partnership activities.
• Lead continuous improvement efforts to measurably strengthen the security posture.
• Identify root causes behind technical and operational security issues and guide durable solutions.

Requirements

• 5+ years hands-on information security experience, with exposure across multiple areas such as:
  • vulnerability management
  • incident response
  • endpoint security
  • identity and access management
• 2+ years experience leading security professionals (hiring, coaching, performance management, career development).
• Experience securing on-premises and cloud environments, including cloud networking and operations concepts.
• Ability to communicate security risks and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience contributing to or executing security roadmaps, policies, or programs in a growing/maturing organization.

Preferred

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or related field.
• CISSP (or equivalent) security certification.
• 8+ years total information security experience.
• 5+ years people management experience in a security or technology function.
