Manager of Data Engineering

Role Overview

Join Clio as a Data Engineering Manager (full remote). You’ll partner with stakeholders to find high-impact opportunities, define a roadmap, and lead data engineering work by designing solutions, shipping production code, and supporting team growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand commercial challenges and define the team roadmap.
• Design technical solutions and write/ship production-level code.
• Lead through coaching and feedback with regular 1:1s to support career growth.
• Provide consistent, actionable feedback and encourage peer feedback within the team.
• Participate in hiring to grow Clio’s engineering teams.

Requirements

• Proven people leadership in software engineering, especially for large-scale SaaS products.
• Experience creating roadmaps that guide teams (with flexibility to adapt).
• Strong adaptability to a changing environment.
• Hands-on history in software development and data engineering.
• Ability to solve complex technical problems across a broad knowledge base.
• Philosophy and approach to building great engineering teams.

Nice-to-Haves

• Interest in improving craft using AI.
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g., Terraform).
• Experience with Databricks and/or AWS.
