Manager III, Software Development - Growth

Role Overview

Growth Engineering Manager at onXmaps, leading a “Growth pod” within the Growth Domain team. You will manage Growth Engineers focused on improving in-app user experience and driving key growth metrics. The role reports to the VP of Data.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee design, prioritization, and implementation of experiments to improve growth metrics, balancing team and organizational priorities.
• Manage 3+ direct reports: set performance expectations, differentiate talent, address underperformance, and build a high-performing team.
• Serve as an escalation point for complex, cross-team issues; make high-judgment decisions grounded in long-term strategy.
• Drive experiment velocity and quality at scale by defining structure, milestones, and success criteria (including greenfield initiatives).
• Lead cross-department projects by aligning groups around shared goals, progress, and outcomes.
• Apply strong hiring judgment to build a team for sustained performance and future capability/capacity needs.
• Monitor and report KPIs for user growth; provide updates to senior leadership with actionable recommendations tied to longer-term goals.
• Analyze data to find trends and insights that drive continuous improvement and inform decisions.
• Develop and maintain dashboards and reporting tools for real-time visibility into growth metrics.
• Coach team members to improve innovation quality and follow-through; promote test-and-iterate approaches.
• Stay current on industry trends and best practices; occasionally contribute to company strategy.

• Strong technical background and strategic thinking.
• Proven leadership skills, including managing engineers and improving team performance.
• Deep understanding of mobile app ecosystems.
• Ability to drive experiments and use data to inform product and engineering decisions.

Nice-to-Haves / Additional Signals

• Experience working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with experimentation-driven delivery.
• Familiarity with building dashboards/reporting and tracking growth KPIs.
