Role overview
The Manager, Finance – Commercial leads financial planning and analysis for the Commercial business unit. The role owns month-end financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, partnering across Commercial functions to turn operational metrics into actionable financial insights.
Responsibilities
Financial reporting & analysis
- Lead month-end reporting for Commercial: review actuals, prepare summaries, and analyze performance vs. budget, forecast, and prior periods.
- Produce variance analysis explaining drivers across revenue, subscriber/volume metrics, acquisition costs, staffing, labor/overtime, vendor spend, productivity, service levels, and other operating expenses.
- Build and maintain financial models, dashboards, and reporting tools for cost trends, operational performance, risks, and opportunities.
- Partner with Accounting/Finance to ensure accurate expense recording, appropriate accruals, and correct cost-center/reporting alignment.
Strategic planning & advisory
- Own forecasting, annual budgeting, and long-range planning for Commercial, incorporating package pricing, sales/subscriber volumes, revenue, acquisition costs, staffing assumptions, vendor strategies, and operational goals.
- Translate operational metrics into financial insights for leadership decisions.
- Perform driver analysis (e.g., ARPU, average margin per user, subscriber acquisition cost, costs to serve, and headcount impact).
- Provide scenario modeling and ad hoc analyses for staffing plans, vendor initiatives, productivity improvements, business cases, cost optimization, and pricing/packaging deals.
- Identify financial risks, trends, and opportunities and recommend improvements to efficiency and expense management.
Compliance & financial integrity
- Ensure reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and variance explanations are accurate, consistent, and timely.
- Maintain controls around financial assumptions, pricing initiatives, revenue assurance, cost allocations, accruals, and reporting outputs.
- Align plans and reporting with company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls.
- Partner with stakeholders to resolve discrepancies and improve reporting accuracy.
Team leadership & collaboration
- Build strong relationships with Pricing & Packaging, Sales, Marketing, Product, Care, Engineering, Accounting, and senior leadership.
- Present financial results, forecasts, risks, and opportunities clearly to business partners and leadership.
