About the role
Role overview
Manager Engineering – Payment Integrity is a leadership position focused on healthcare payment integrity platforms. You’ll lead distributed software engineering teams that analyze large volumes of clinical and financial data to help insurance organizations detect risk, improve payment accuracy, and optimize resource allocation.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop engineering teams delivering and improving healthcare payment integrity systems
- Define and execute long-term software architecture and engineering strategy aligned to business and performance goals
- Coordinate cross-functional stakeholders (product, business, compliance) on priorities, delivery plans, and system requirements
- Oversee agile delivery within a scaled agile (SAFe) environment, including release planning and continuous improvement
- Drive engineering operations: resource allocation, cost optimization, and balancing internal/external capabilities
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and security standards (including HIPAA), partnering with privacy and security teams
- Hire, mentor, coach, and retain high-performing engineering talent; build a culture of accountability and innovation
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- 7+ years in IT/software engineering leadership environments
- 5+ years managing engineering teams and leading software development projects
- Strong technical foundation in object-oriented programming with hands-on experience in Java (Spring Boot) and/or Python
- Experience with Kafka and exposure to ETL and/or data warehousing
- Strong software architecture and system design skills for scalable enterprise solutions
- Agile experience, ideally within SAFe
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop engineering talent in a distributed organization
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

- Familiarity with healthcare data systems and/or other regulated environments
