Role Overview
Machine Learning Scientist at Abridge. You will advance the state of the art in medical NLP, contribute to original research, and help define important problems in the field.
Key Missions
- Advance medical NLP research, including:
- Conversation summarization
- Evidence extraction
- Contribute to the research community by sharing and publishing original work
- Define and solve research problems by:
- Selecting appropriate baselines
- Developing state-of-the-art methods
- Shipping models into production
Responsibilities
- Craft, prototype, and deliver machine learning solutions into production
- Apply deep learning and perform statistical analysis on observational and experimental data
- Develop and deploy foundation-model–driven approaches relevant to the medical domain
Requirements
- Strong programming skills and proven experience delivering ML solutions to production
- Experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow
- Experience with multi-GPU training
- Strong research background (papers and MS/PhD in EE, Computer Science, Math, or equivalent)
- Evidence of real-world impact via open-source contributions and deployed technology
- High-impact publications at peer-reviewed AI conferences (e.g., CL, NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR)
- Fluency with foundation models and strong critical thinking

- Strong fit for research scientists in machine learning and natural language processing
- Genuine interest in the medical domain
Work Location
- Remote work is available, but the role requires working from the SF office at least 3x per week.
