Role Overview

Join Reddit as a Machine Learning Manager for the Feed Ecosystems team. Lead a team of Machine Learning Engineers building recommendation systems that support sustainable growth across users, posts, and communities.

Responsibilities

• Define the technical vision and long-term roadmap for Feed Ecosystems and align recommendation system investments with Reddit goals.
• Oversee design, development, and optimization of production ML systems to improve relevance for:
  • Cold start scenarios
  • Distribution of new posts and communities
• Collaborate cross-functionally (including platform and infrastructure teams) to build scalable, AI-driven systems for:
  • Discovery
  • Personalization
  • Healthy content distribution
• Maintain high standards for system performance and reliability.
• Partner with recruiting to attract and hire diverse talent.

Requirements

• 2+ years experience leading ML or recommender-systems teams.
• Strong recommender systems knowledge, including:
  • Candidate retrieval
  • Ranking
  • Value modeling
  • Ecosystem dynamics
  • Measurement strategies
• Hands-on experience with large-scale production ML, ideally involving recommender systems, personalization, cold-start modeling, content understanding, or LLM-powered recommendation.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills; can explain complex technical topics to diverse audiences.
• Strategic, impact-driven mindset balancing user relevance, community growth, content quality, safety, and business impact.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with LLM-powered recommendation applications.
• Deep experience in content understanding for recommender systems.
