About the role
Role overview
Machine Learning Engineer (New Grad) to build AI-powered consumer experiences at Quora. You’ll work on advanced ML systems, including large language models (LLMs) and generative AI, improving product outcomes through experimentation and production-ready AI development in a remote-first environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and optimize AI-driven features that enhance user experience and platform intelligence
- Develop and iterate on consumer-facing AI features powered by LLMs and generative AI
- Work across the ML lifecycle: experimentation, model development, production deployment, and performance optimization
- Collaborate on prompt engineering, agent workflows, model evaluation, and optimization
- Run structured experiments (A/B tests and offline evaluations) to measure engagement, quality, and trust
- Translate user needs into scalable machine learning solutions with product and engineering teams
- Improve reliability via monitoring, quality analysis, guardrails, and failure-mode investigation
- Optimize production systems for performance, cost efficiency, latency, and scalability
Requirements
- Recent graduate / early-career engineer (B.S./M.S./Ph.D. in Computer Science/Engineering or related), with graduation expected in 2025 or 2026
- Strong ML foundations (mathematical understanding of ML algorithms)
- Experience with LLM applications and/or transformer models
- Proficiency in Python or C++ (or ability to quickly learn new languages)
- Strong written English skills (tone, accuracy, clarity, nuance)
- Passion for continuous improvement, experimentation, and learning
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a remote environment
- Availability during required coordination hours: Mon–Fri, 9 AM–3 PM Pacific Time
Nice to have
- Prior software engineering experience (internships, professional work, or coding competitions)
- Experience building AI agents or production-scale ML systems
