Machine Learning Engineer

Role Overview

Machine Learning Engineer for a globally distributed, innovation-driven team working on AI + neuroscience. You will build and optimize scalable deep learning models for brain decoding and AI-driven neuroscience applications, including generative AI systems.

Accountabilities

• Develop, train, and optimize scalable deep learning models for brain decoding and related applications.
• Collaborate with research scientists and cross-functional teams on generative modeling and representation learning.
• Maintain and improve ML pipelines for high performance, scalability, and reliability across distributed/GPU environments.
• Support research activities: experimentation, hypothesis testing, technical documentation, and participation in conferences/publications.
• Ensure strong software engineering practices: automation, code quality, and reproducibility.
• Identify bottlenecks and improve workflows, infrastructure, and model performance.
• Assist with deployment and adaptation of AI models across diverse compute environments and changing needs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (CS, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Neuroscience, Informatics, or similar).
• 3+ years of professional or research experience in machine learning/deep learning/AI engineering.
• Strong Python programming skills and hands-on experience with PyTorch.
• Solid understanding of supervised, self-supervised, semi-supervised, and generative deep learning.
• Ability to design experiments, evaluate models scientifically, and draw data-driven conclusions.
• Experience with large or unstructured datasets and strong analytical/problem-solving skills.
• Strong collaboration, communication, and organization in cross-functional, remote settings.

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with Hugging Face, Transformers, Diffusers, and/or Accelerator.
• Experience with generative models, large language models, or neural data (EEG, fMRI, MEG).
• PhD-level research experience and publications in leading AI/neuroscience conferences.
