About the role
Role Overview
Join Genies as a Machine Learning Engineer Intern (full remote). You’ll collaborate with technical artists, engineers, and artists to develop and prototype ML methods that improve 3D avatar texture quality and realism.
Key Missions
- Research & prototype methods to improve 3D avatar texture realism and visual quality.
- Develop techniques to separate lighting from albedo textures.
- Improve consistency of generated textures across different lighting conditions.
- Train, fine-tune, or adapt machine learning models to enhance texture generation and improve visual fidelity.
Profile / Requirements
- Passion for high-quality visuals and strong technical foundations for digital identity experiences.
- Ability to conduct research and prototype solutions based on academic literature.
- Solid understanding of machine learning and recent computer vision concepts.
- Strong communication skills to present findings clearly.
- Familiarity with programming in Python and ML libraries such as:
- PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn, Hugging Face.
- Strong problem-solving skills; able to work independently and in teams.
- Currently enrolled in or a recent graduate of a PhD/Master program in CS, AI, ML, or related fields.
- Experience with 3D data / rendering / texture processing (e.g., UV textures, albedo maps, PBR pipelines).
- Familiarity with image-to-image and generative approaches (e.g., diffusion models).
- Experience with image decomposition tasks such as intrinsic image decomposition (lighting vs. reflectance).
- Knowledge of 3D generation / avatar pipelines.
