Litigation, Trust & Risk Counsel

Role Overview

As a Litigation, Trust & Risk Counsel at Whatnot, you will manage active disputes, advise Trust & Risk and Customer Support teams, and help build processes and infrastructure for the legal function.

Key Missions & Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end litigation and arbitration matters involving Whatnot sellers and buyers, including litigation and resolution strategy.
• Act as a real-time legal advisor to Trust & Risk and Customer Support on account enforcement decisions with legal exposure.
• Review demand letters and state AG complaints, and draft clear, consistent, confident responses.
• Leverage technology to improve legal efficiency and reduce response times.
• Contribute to building processes and legal function infrastructure.

Requirements

• 5+ years of legal experience.
• Familiarity/fluency with trust, safety, and risk operations.
• Strong communication skills.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience handling seller/buyer disputes in a marketplace or similar environment.
• Demonstrated ability to build legal processes and use technology to streamline workflows.
