Role Overview

Legal Counsel at Xsolla, supporting the company’s business and payment strategies in the video game industry. The role focuses on drafting, negotiating, and advising on legal documents and compliance matters related to emerging payment and digital innovation.

Responsibilities

Consult business teams on legal issues and implications of business decisions, initiatives, and payment strategies
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant laws and regulations for payment services and digital innovation, including:
- US: state money transmitter laws, BSA/AML, Reg E, and card network rules
- EU: PSD2, EMI/PI licensing, AMLD/AML-CFT, MiCA
Identify, summarize, and analyze the impact of new and proposed regulations on business decisions and current strategies
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and other documentation for new business ideas
Partner with business and technology teams to support key business objectives and product/service offerings
Manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
Provide other legal services and advice as needed

Requirements

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
Active membership in good standing with the applicable Bar
5+ years of legal experience
Strong legal research and written/oral communication skills
Knowledge of general corporate law (CA for US candidates) and financial services law/regulation (money transmitter licensing, BSA/AML)
Comfortable working independently and collaboratively; able to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment
Fluent English
Familiarity with modern collaboration tools, including Atlassian (Jira, Confluence), Slack, and Figma

Nice to Have

Experience in the crypto and/or gaming industries
Familiarity with payment systems
Interest in DeFi, cryptocurrency, and blockchain, with eagerness to learn

Compensation & Benefits

$147,800 - $232,700 per year
