About the role

Role Overview

IXOPAY is hiring a Legal Counsel / Senior Legal Counsel (Commercial and FinTech) to support global commercial contracting, international data privacy, and the company’s growth in the FinTech/SaaS ecosystem.

Responsibilities

Commercial & International Contracting: Draft, review, and negotiate high volumes of complex agreements worldwide, including:
- SaaS subscription agreements
- Enterprise MSAs
- Partner and reseller contracts
Data Privacy & Security:
- Act as a legal subject-matter expert on global privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA/CPRA)
- Draft and negotiate DPAs
- Advise product and engineering on privacy-by-design
Risk Management & Compliance:
- Identify legal risks across jurisdictions and provide practical mitigations aligned to business goals
Payment Regulatory Support:
- Advise on legal/regulatory considerations for payment orchestration and processing (including PCI-DSS implications and PSD2/PSD3)
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Sales, Customer Success, Product, Security, and Executive leadership to streamline deal cycles and align legal strategy with business objectives

Requirements

Education & Licensure: JD (or equivalent) and active bar membership (or relevant local authority)
Experience: 5+ years in relevant legal work, ideally including top-tier law firm and in-house experience at a fast-growing global SaaS or FinTech company
SaaS & Tech Expertise: Strong experience structuring and negotiating enterprise-level SaaS/cloud/technology licensing agreements
Privacy Credentials: Deep understanding of data privacy/security frameworks
- CIPP/E or CIPP/US is a plus
International Exposure: Proven cross-border contracting experience across North America, Europe, LATAM, and APAC
Payment Industry Knowledge (Preferred): Experience with payment gateways, orchestration platforms, acquirers, or complex FinTech ecosystems
Soft Skills: Excellent negotiation, communication, and drafting; ability to translate complex legal concepts into actionable business guidance
