About the role

Role overview

Lead Software Engineer (Software Engineer IV) for RxBenefits’ growing application development team. You will help design and deliver next-generation software, act as a technology thought leader, and mentor engineers while ensuring modern engineering practices across the stack.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with Product Owners, UI/UX designers, and digital strategists
Contribute to architectural design and technical infrastructure direction
Research, evaluate, and recommend alternative technical solutions
Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain application code
Write unit and integration tests
Oversee integrations with internal systems and third-party services
Ensure performance, security, accessibility, and responsive design best practices
Collect and analyze metrics to drive implementation decisions
Design, improve, and document processes
Review and collaborate on other engineers’ code
Mentor and share knowledge within the team and across the department
Deliver personal and team deadlines and goals

Required skills / experience

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field
8+ years of professional application development experience
Strong functional and object-oriented programming fundamentals
SOLID design principles
Ability to innovate and adopt new technologies
Experience with multiple programming languages
Development/troubleshooting of complex SQL
REST principles
Agile development methodologies
Strong communication and presentation skills
Excellent organization and attention to detail; works well in teams and independently

Preferred skills / experience

Extensive web development experience with modern frontend and backend technologies
Frontend: React, Next.js; Backend: Python, Go, Java
Experience acting as a tech lead
AWS services: EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, CloudFormation, ECS/EKS, VPC, IAM (etc.)
Serverless architectures using AWS Lambda
Security best practices in cloud environments (e.g., Auth0)
Caching and in-memory database technologies
Responsive design frameworks
Asynchronous / multi-threaded programming patterns
Performance tuning for high-traffic portals
AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Developer – Associate, AWS Certified Solutions Architect)

Compensation

Anticipated hiring range: $132,000–$158,000 annually (final offer may vary)
Short-term incentive eligible
