Role Overview
Lead Software Engineer (Java) at Very acts as the key technical architect across multiple client engagements. The role combines high-level technical leadership with hands-on implementation across the full software stack, aligning system design with customer goals and measurable business outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary technical architect across multiple client engagements, ensuring technical strategy maps to business goals.
- Lead architecture design across frontend, backend, and cloud/infrastructure layers with focus on scalability, maintainability, and performance.
- Contribute directly to implementation by writing production-grade code that sets the engineering excellence standard.
- Collaborate cross-functionally across Hardware, Data Science, and Design to deliver end-to-end connected and intelligent product ecosystems.
- Partner with the commercial/solutions team on pre-sales, including technical scoping and estimation.
Requirements
- Strong technical architecture and delivery experience across complex, multi-faceted projects.
- Demonstrated ability to write high-quality, maintainable, scalable code.
- Executive-level technical presence with major client stakeholders.
Nice-to-Haves / Role Context
- Experience spanning AWS and/or Azure infrastructure and modern full-stack systems.
- Ability to plan, execute, and lead technical work across the full software stack (including interfacing with non-software project aspects).
- Travel up to ~10% of the time; some clients may require periodic 24/7 support rotation.
