Lead Software Engineer, Frontend/Web App

Role Overview

Lead the Beacon AI frontend team by delivering high-impact web interfaces for the flight safety platform. You’ll integrate complex real-time and historical aviation data into user-facing experiences and provide technical leadership across design and implementation.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement React-based features and architect frontend systems for large-scale, real-time, and historical data.
• Integrate, process, and visualize data from multiple sources, including live streams and archived datasets.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews and architectural discussions; set and uphold a high technical bar.
• Collaborate with backend engineers, product managers, and UX/UI designers to guide design and implementation decisions.
• Ensure reliable, maintainable frontend systems using automated testing, documentation, and strong engineering standards.
• Build reusable components and internal libraries to accelerate future development.

Requirements

• 5+ years building and shipping high-performance, user-facing web applications.
• Strong expertise in React, TypeScript, JavaScript, state management, and modern web standards (HTML/CSS).
• Experience with asynchronous frontend patterns and efficient handling of live and historical data streams.
• Proven ownership of complex features/product areas with high autonomy from concept to delivery.
• Ability to analyze and optimize frontend performance (scalability, responsiveness, reliability).
• Proactive, resourceful mindset in fast-moving, ambiguous environments.

• Passion for aviation and improving air travel efficiency and safety.
• Experience with geospatial/mapping tools (Mapbox, Cesium).
• Deep experience with live data streaming and playback systems.
• Experience with video streaming technologies and real-time media delivery.
