About the role
Role Overview
Lead Software Engineer (Frontend) on the Fleet team at Corelight. You will set the technical direction for the Fleet Manager frontend UI used by security teams to operate fleets of Corelight sensors (often hundreds concurrently). You will own end-to-end outcomes across frontend architecture, technical direction, engineering craft, and user experience, partnering with a Lead Backend Engineer and a dedicated UX designer.
Responsibilities
- Drive end-to-end frontend architecture for the Fleet Manager UI:
- Own state management, data layers, module boundaries, performance tuning, and the long-term technical roadmap.
- Co-own UX with a dedicated UX designer:
- Define interaction patterns, refine complex data workflows, and make product/UX trade-offs.
- Translate high-fidelity wireframes into accessible, performant, and delightful interfaces.
- Build for real operational scale:
- Integrate REST and GraphQL APIs to keep interactive UIs highly responsive when managing hundreds of live sensors.
- Steward the design system:
- Evolve and maintain a component library for consistency, reusability, and clean UI architecture.
- Technical leadership & mentorship:
- Provide architectural guidance and run rigorous code reviews.
- Promote clean, maintainable code.
- Help with frontend hiring, interviewing, and onboarding.
- AI-assisted engineering:
- Use modern AI tooling to accelerate delivery while enforcing the same quality, security, and testing standards as hand-written code.
- Security-first engineering:
- Assess UI changes for security implications (authN/authZ, RBAC, XSS mitigation, safe sensitive data handling) with backend and security teams.
- API collaboration:
- Partner on REST/GraphQL contract design, using OpenAPI specs to keep frontend and backend architectures aligned.
- Operational excellence:
- Own features from design to production with automated test suites, CI/CD, performance budgets, and web accessibility checks.
Requirements & Skills (from posting)
- Product/user empathy for building interfaces that simplify dense, complex data workflows for security defenders.
- Systems thinking about how state, data flow, and frontend architecture interrelate across the application.
- Alignment with Corelight values such as low ego results, tireless service, and applied curiosity.
