Lead Software Engineer

Role Overview

Lead, mentor, and architect the future of FinditParts’ heavy-duty eCommerce platform. Reporting to the CTO, you’ll be the core technical leader responsible for delivery standards, scalable architecture, and building a high-performance engineering culture.

Responsibilities

• Lead & grow the team (5–10 engineers): build accountability, collaboration, and performance.
• Mentor and guide engineers/managers: hands-on technical leadership alongside people leadership.
• Own roadmap delivery: oversee end-to-end delivery of high-quality, scalable, secure systems, products, and platforms.
• Set engineering best practices: code quality, testing, deployment, operations, and AI utilization.
• Define engineering KPIs: measure team performance, productivity, quality, and delivery efficiency.
• Partner cross-functionally: collaborate with Product and Design to turn ambiguous business requirements into executable engineering solutions.

Requirements

• 10+ years progressive software engineering experience.
• 2+ years leading and mentoring others.
• Proven track record delivering complex software in a small team environment.
• Deep expertise across the full stack and modern development practices, architectures, and tooling.
• Strong background in lightweight, fast-rendering, SEO-friendly web pages.
• Comfortable working with Linux-based systems, including scripting and file system work.
• Strong communication and decision-making, with a data-driven approach.

Nice to Have

• Experience in eCommerce, logistics, or marketplace environments.

Required Tech Stack

• Backend: Ruby on Rails
• Cloud: AWS (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPC, IAM)
• Data: MySQL or PostgreSQL
• Frontend: JavaScript and Tailwind CSS

Compensation & Benefits

• $150k–$200k base salary + bonus + equity + flexible unlimited PTO
