Role Overview

Lead Software Engineer at DealerBuilt to drive technical excellence for web products used by automotive dealerships nationwide.

What You’ll Do

Technical Development & Architecture

Design, develop, and maintain scalable, reliable software using the stack: Java, MySQL, JavaScript/TypeScript, Angular, AWS
Make architecture decisions that improve scalability, performance, and maintainability
Provide technical guidance for hosting and supporting high-performing AWS web apps/services
Write clean, efficient, and well-tested code following best practices and coding standards
Perform code reviews and provide constructive feedback

Technical Leadership & Collaboration

Mentor junior and mid-level engineers
Collaborate with Engineering, Product, QA, and other cross-functional partners to deliver features on time
Participate in technical planning, estimation, and feature design
Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend improvements to tools/processes/architecture

Quality & Operational Excellence

Ensure quality via testing, debugging, and performance optimization
Help maintain reliability, availability, and security, including regulatory/compliance needs
Troubleshoot complex issues in development and production
Participate in on-call rotations and incident response

What We’re Looking For

7+ years of professional software engineering experience in a SaaS/product environment
Strong hands-on experience with:
- Java
- MySQL (noted as MariaDB/MySQL)
- JavaScript/TypeScript
- Angular
Experience deploying and operating in AWS
Ability to work independently on complex technical problems while collaborating effectively
Strong debugging/problem-solving and analytical skills
Excellent communication skills (able to explain to technical and non-technical audiences)
Demonstrated delivery of high-quality software and experience mentoring
