Role overview

Lead Software Engineer (hands-on)

• Drive the technical direction and execution of Bankjoy’s new product.
• Lead a small engineering team while collaborating closely with Product, Design, and QA.
• Build and evolve secure, compliant systems for a regulated financial environment.

Key missions

• Own the technical direction and product execution for financial empowerment for children and families.
• Architect solutions and lead a small engineering team, partnering with Product, Design, and QA.
• Ensure industry compliance including security, compliance, and data privacy requirements for financial systems.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years in a technical leadership/Lead Engineer role.
• Must be based in or willing to work Eastern Time Zone hours (firm requirement).
• Strong proficiency in .NET Core and C#.
• Strong proficiency in Angular and TypeScript (required).
• Experience with cloud infrastructure, containerization, microservices, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience leading engineers: setting direction, coaching, and delivering without sacrificing quality.
• Strong understanding of security, compliance, and data privacy in financial applications.
• Proven ability to architect scalable, secure, high-performing systems in a regulated environment.

Backend skills (core stack)

• C#, .NET Core, Entity Framework, SQL Server.

Nice to have

• Mobile app development (iOS/Android or cross-platform such as React Native or .NET MAUI).
• Deep domain experience in banking, payments, financial wellness, or financial empowerment technology.
• Experience with consumer-facing financial apps for families/kids/financial education.
• Familiarity with credit union/community banking platforms and integrations.
• Experience integrating with core banking systems and/or third-party financial APIs.
• Background in financial wellness, budgeting tools, or savings products.
