Lead Scrum Master

Role Overview

Lead Scrum Master responsible for coordinating and optimizing delivery across multiple Agile teams. You will facilitate alignment and cross-team collaboration using Scrum of Scrums and scaled Agile practices, supported by Azure DevOps for backlog management, reporting, and workflow visibility.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate Scrum of Scrums ceremonies and support scaled Agile events (e.g., PI Planning, cross-team refinement, sprint planning, release coordination).
• Coordinate cross-team alignment by managing risks, dependencies, and impediments that impact delivery.
• Partner with Product Management, engineering, architecture, QA, operations, and leadership to maintain delivery flow and support program execution.
• Manage and optimize Azure DevOps Boards and related artifacts (backlogs, dashboards, queries, workflows, reporting, and usage standards).
• Publish and communicate program/sprint artifacts, including:
  • Sprint commitment reports
  • Burn-down/burn-up charts
  • Velocity by team
  • Program Increment (PI) plans
• Provide data-driven updates to leadership on progress, delivery health, key metrics, and improvement opportunities.
• Support Agile best-practice adoption across teams, coach teams on maturity, and drive continuous improvement.
• Lead program-level retrospectives, identify process gaps, and drive actionable changes to improve flow, predictability, transparency, accountability, and continuous learning.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Business Administration, or related field.
• Experience configuring/organizing Azure DevOps Boards (pipelines, dashboards, reporting).
• 7+ years progressive experience in a Scrum Master role, Agile Delivery Lead, or similar.
• 5+ years coordinating multi-team Agile delivery (Scrum of Scrums, ART, or equivalent).
• Strong understanding of Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban) and scaled methodologies (SAFe, LeSS, Nexus).
• Demonstrated ability to manage cross-team dependencies in complex delivery environments.
• Excellent facilitation, communication, and conflict resolution skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• SAFe certifications (e.g., SAFe RTE, SAFe SM, PSM II/III, CSM or equivalent).
• Experience in cloud/DevOps/enterprise-scale software delivery.
• Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and engineering workflows.
• Ability to analyze delivery metrics and drive data-informed decisions.

Logistics

• Travel: up to 10%.

Compensation

• Expected base salary range (Phoenix, AZ): $105,410 - $140,730 annually (base pay only; excludes incentives/other components).
