About the role
Role Overview
Lead as a Staff Product Designer (Channels UX, L4) on Twilio’s Channels UX team, helping shape foundational, channel-agnostic experiences for Twilio’s core communication products (including Voice, Email, and SendGrid infrastructure). You’ll act as a systems thinker and design leader, setting long-term UX architecture and developer-friendly mental models for complex technical platforms.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end Channels UX strategy: Define the long-term UX vision and design architecture for core communications platforms and primitives.
- Drive channel-agnostic coherence: Partner with design, product, and engineering to build unified configuration and observability narratives in One Console.
- Translate technical complexity: Convert telecom abstractions and infrastructure primitives (APIs, SDK integrations, distributed data layers, real-time streaming architectures) into clean developer mental models.
- Lead strategic cross-functional partnerships: Work with Product Directors, Engineering VPs, and Architects to align roadmaps, negotiate constraints, and ensure high-fidelity execution.
- Uphold craft and scale UX systems: Participate in and scale the UX design feedback process; mentor junior designers; create reusable frameworks; drive structural change.
- Define observability standards: Architect UX frameworks for dashboards, live charts, centralized logs, and real-time diagnostic views that track performance and deliverability.
Requirements
- Full-time, US-based remote (work schedule specified as US-based remote).
- 8+ years of product design experience for highly technical software, developer tools, infrastructure, or complex B2B/SaaS platforms.
- Expert-level systems thinking with a portfolio showing structural design, workflow mapping, complex data architectures, and unifying fragmented platform experiences.
- Executive cross-functional leadership through successful partnerships with engineering and product leaders (Director/VP level mentioned).
Nice-to-haves
- Not explicitly stated in the provided text.
