About the role
Role Overview
Join Twilio as a Lead Product Designer to define the strategic user experience vision for Twilio Email Products. You will lead cross-channel UX harmonization and help steer the modernization of SendGrid, shaping a high-growth product area from foundational stages.
Key Missions
- Architect the Twilio Email Vision: Own the holistic, end-to-end user journey strategy for Twilio Email inside the core One Console.
- Lead Cross-Channel Harmonization: Serve as the strategic connector between channel silos by partnering with design, product, and engineering leaders.
- Steer the Modernization of SendGrid: Define the long-term UX roadmap and structural evolution for the high-revenue, standalone SendGrid platform.
- Establish strategic partnerships, define observability/platform telemetry standards, and scale design systems.
- Mentor designers and de-risk organizational ambiguity through strong structural and systems thinking.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional product design experience shipping complex, data-heavy B2B SaaS platforms (including developer tools, infrastructure products, or enterprise communication platforms).
- Proven executive cross-functional leadership, influencing product strategy at Director/VP levels and shaping multi-year roadmaps.
- Ability to master technical complexity, translating infrastructure primitives (APIs, SDK integrations, distributed data layers) into clear developer mental models.
- Expert systems thinking, shown through a portfolio featuring structural design, cross-product workflow mapping, and complex data architecture.
- AI-powered UX mindset: curiosity about how AI changes product building and the design practice; apply emerging tools thoughtfully.
- Mentorship/Team multiplier: experience mentoring designers and building design frameworks to drive structural change in a scaling UX org.
- Email industry expertise, including familiarity with email delivery infrastructure and/or domain management (DNS, SPF, DKIM) and transactional communication protocols (or leadership experience with SendGrid-like platforms).
- Advanced data visualization fluency, designing monitoring systems, log viewers, anomaly detection interfaces, and/or high-density reporting dashboards.
- Designed for developers: experience building interfaces for technical builders (APIs, CLIs, SDKs, or developer management consoles).
Nice-to-Have / Emphasis Areas (Implied)
- Deep involvement with observability and telemetry standards.
- Practical experience evolving and scaling design systems in high-complexity platforms.
