Role overview

Join Cape as a Lead Mobile Engineer to architect the future of private mobile communication. You will lead and scale the mobile engineering team while building secure iOS and Android products, ensuring strong security, performance, stability, and user workflow improvements.

Key missions

  • Architect and scale the mobile engineering roadmap for private mobile communication.
  • Lead the mobile team: mentor engineers, provide people-focused technical leadership, and foster technical excellence.
  • Own the mobile product lifecycle from concept through launch.
  • Champion app security, performance, and stability; architect systems that help prevent financial fraud.
  • Improve user workflows and iterate with feedback to raise quality.

Responsibilities (day-to-day)

  • Deliver new mobile capabilities and design system architectures.
  • Make engineering decisions with an emphasis on tradeoffs and avoiding over-engineering.
  • Collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including product designers.
  • Improve user experiences and iterate on complex UX flows.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of mobile software engineering experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; ability to iterate quickly with teammates.
  • Exceptional coding ability, especially with Kotlin or Swift.
  • Ability to work independently, learn continuously, and make decisions with minimal supervision.
  • Familiarity with data structures, loading patterns, mobile frameworks, and related technical concepts.
  • Solid understanding of software design patterns such as:
    • MVVM
    • Unidirectional state flow
    • Modularization
    • Asynchronous and event-based programming
  • Understanding of cryptographic systems and designing privacy-conscious solutions.
  • Comfort collaborating with product designers and iterating on product ideas.

Nice to have

  • Active US Security clearance or eligibility/willingness to obtain one.
  • Engineering background in areas like Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, or Physics.
  • Experience with additional stacks such as Go and TypeScript.
