Lead Mechanical/ Product Design Engineer

Role Overview

Lead Mechanical/Product Design Engineer to drive mechanical and product design engineering for V1 products at Eight Sleep, owning key decisions from concept through production.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical/product design engineering for V1 products from concept to production.
• Architect and design complex electromechanical systems across the full development lifecycle.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to solve problems and ensure designs meet product goals.

Requirements

• Willingness and ability to travel to China as needed.
• Experience shipping high-volume consumer products, including manufacturing support in Asia.
• Experience with high-volume manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability/assembly (DFM/DFA).
• Knowledge of tolerance analysis, functional dimensioning, and GD&T.
• Solid understanding of root cause analysis, DOE (Design of Experiments), and quality measurement techniques.
• BSME or equivalent.
• 6+ years of consumer product design experience, including:
  • Injection molding
  • Sheet metal forming
  • Sensor/electronics integration
• Highly proficient in 3D modeling (e.g., SolidWorks, NX, Creo).
