About the role

Lead Kubernetes Platform Engineer

Lead a platform engineering team focused on enterprise-scale, highly available, secure, and resilient infrastructure across cloud and on-prem environments.

Responsibilities

Define and drive platform engineering strategy, standards, and best practices
Design, implement, and support scalable cloud and infrastructure platforms
Administer and optimize Kubernetes-based container platforms and their ecosystems
Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) to automate provisioning and deployments
Partner with cross-functional teams on application deployments and production readiness
Own platform monitoring, logging, performance optimization, and incident response
Design and maintain CI/CD and DevOps tooling to improve reliability and operational efficiency
Lead resiliency work including backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning
Implement platform security controls (access management, secrets management, compliance)
Review architecture designs and provide recommendations for scalability, security, and maintainability
Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership
Collaborate with vendors and technology partners to support platform growth and modernization

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/IT or related field (or equivalent experience)
6+ years in Platform Engineering, DevOps Engineering, Cloud Infrastructure, or related
Strong hands-on experience with:
- Kubernetes
- Docker
- Terraform
Experience managing enterprise cloud environments in AWS, Azure, or GCP
Strong IaC and configuration management experience
Scripting/automation: Python, PowerShell, or Bash
Monitoring/logging platforms (e.g., Splunk, ELK/Elasticsearch, Nagios)
Experience implementing backup/recovery/DR strategies
Strong networking, OS, security, and infrastructure architecture knowledge
Proven ability to lead technical initiatives across multiple engineering teams

Preferred Qualifications

CKA (Certified Kubernetes Administrator)
AWS Certified DevOps Engineer; Azure Solutions Architect
Rancher experience for Kubernetes cluster management
GitOps tools such as ArgoCD
HashiCorp Vault, cert-manager, NGINX Ingress Controllers, TLS certificate lifecycle management
Observability tools (e.g., Sysdig, Fluentd, Elasticsearch)
Experience operating highly available enterprise production environments
