Role Overview
Lead iOS Engineer (AI-Forward) for a US-remote team building high-impact iOS applications in highly regulated domains (aviation, defence, rail). This role is designed for an engineer who uses AI tools daily and wants to influence both product and technical direction.
Responsibilities
- Build, ship, and maintain production iOS applications using Swift and Objective-C
- Lead development of new features with focus on performance, stability, and scalability
- Collaborate with product, design, and QA to deliver high-impact features
- Actively leverage AI tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Augment) to improve engineering workflows
- Champion modern engineering practices: CI/CD, testing, and code quality
- Contribute to technical direction across teams and influence engineering decisions
- Mentor engineers and raise the overall bar
Requirements
- Strong commercial iOS experience with Swift and Objective-C
- Deep knowledge of UIKit, app lifecycle, and iOS architecture
- Experience shipping and supporting live App Store applications
- Strong debugging, performance optimization, and profiling using Instruments
- AI-forward mindset: uses AI tools in day-to-day development; can explain how AI improved speed, quality, or output
- Comfortable introducing new tools and ways of working to the team
- Ability to partner confidently with product and cross-functional teams; demonstrate ownership beyond individual tasks
- Potential to grow into technical leadership
