Role overview
Lead GCP Engineer: AI Platforms & Development (Remote in USA)
You will be the resident GCP expert and technical leader for AI & agentic capabilities, owning the technical standards for building and scaling agentic systems on Google Cloud. You’ll bridge the gap between AI models and production-ready applications by delivering backend services, APIs, and data pipelines for enterprise AI.
Responsibilities
- AI Service & Agent Engineering: Build and maintain production-grade microservices and APIs to orchestrate agent workflows using tools such as:
- Gemini Enterprise (Agentspace)
- CX Agent Studio
- Vertex AI Agent Builder
- Generative Playbooks
- Agent Development Kit (ADK)
- Prompt & Behavior Engineering: Create and optimize prompt templates, system instructions, and few-shot examples for Gemini models; tune agent behavior via iterative testing and feedback loops.
- Productionize AI Systems: Lead moving prototypes into scalable production using:
- Cloud Run, GKE
- Vertex AI Agent Engine
- Cloud Functions
- Patterns such as Function Calling, Grounding with Google Search, and Vertex AI Extensions
- Data & Tool Integration: Implement “glue code”/connectors so agents can use enterprise data through:
- Gemini Enterprise, Vertex AI Search and Conversation
- BigQuery
- specialized Vector Databases
- Engineering Standards & CI/CD: Establish automated deployment pipelines (Cloud Build) and MLOps-aligned practices for LLM apps (e.g., prompt versioning and evaluation pipelines).
- Innovation Lab Delivery: Lead hands-on development of strategic accelerators/POCs within the GCP Innovation Lab.
Requirements
- Resident expert for agentic system development on Google Cloud (implied by “technical standard” ownership and “engineering heart” description).
Nice-to-haves
- Strong experience with Gemini Enterprise, Vertex AI, enterprise data integrations, and MLOps practices for LLM applications.
- Hands-on leadership in building production microservices/APIs for agent workflows.
