Role Overview

Lead Full Stack Software Engineer (Hybrid)

You will perform full-stack engineering across the stack—database setup, back-end services, and front-end/UI—while taking ownership of technical architecture, design, and delivery. This role works with autonomy and collaborates on architectural and process decisions.

Responsibilities

Lead technical architecture reviews and design; present and communicate technical vision
Drive end-to-end development across:
- Front-end development and UI/UX
- Back-end development and server management
- Database integrations
- Network/hosting management
- Cloud-based services
Lead and mentor a small team of engineers (coaching and constructive feedback)
Lead by example through hands-on platform, back-end, and front-end development
Review pull requests and provide actionable feedback
Communicate updates, resolutions, and progress to customers and partners
Conceptualize solutions from incomplete/evolving requirements
Investigate and propose new ideas, frameworks, technologies, or engineering processes
Partner with business stakeholders to define technical direction and work cross-functionally

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree
8+ years of progressive experience as a senior developer on large IT projects
2+ years of project leadership experience
Tech-lead level experience in one or more: .NET or Java, JavaScript, Node.js, Python, TypeScript (etc.)
Spring/Spring Boot experience
Experience with JSON and RESTful web services/client-server interactions
Experience building highly scalable websites and web services (e.g., Vue.js, Angular, React)
Knowledge/experience with Azure (or equivalent cloud provider)
Experience with environment management and/or orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker, AKS)

Preferred Qualifications

React Native and mobile app experience
AI/agentic AI experience
Experience leveraging code generation tools such as Claude and/or Copilot

Work Location / Policy

Hybrid role: required to come into the office 1–2 times per week
Candidates must reside within 50 miles of: Dallas TX, Chicago Metro, DC Metro, or Louisville area

Home/Work-From-Home Requirements (for hybrid/home employees)

Internet: at least 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload
Use a dedicated space with minimal interruptions to protect PHI/HIPAA information

Travel

Occasional travel to Humana offices for training or meetings may be required
