Lead Full-stack Developer (Full-Time Remote Contractor)

Role Overview

Join a small, fast-moving team as a Lead Full-Stack Developer (full-time remote contractor). You will own an existing React Native/Expo mobile app codebase and lead hands-on architecture and delivery across mobile, backend, and planned web expansion. You’ll work closely with the Founder, CTO, and Product Manager to translate requirements into robust technical solutions and ensure stable, well-tested releases.

Responsibilities

Architecture & Technical Leadership

• Own and evolve the existing React Native / Expo + Firebase codebase to keep it stable and maintainable.
• Lead hands-on architectural decisions to improve scalability, performance, reliability, and development velocity.
• Identify and address technical debt and evolve architecture for faster feature delivery.
• Establish and refine engineering best practices (coding standards, review process, release hygiene).

Full-Stack Development (Mobile, Backend, Web)

• Deliver new features and enhancements from the product backlog across mobile and backend systems.
• Build and maintain Firebase/Firestore data models, security rules, and backend logic.
• Implement and troubleshoot Google Calendar syncing and related integration workflows.
• Support future web implementation needs by designing consistent cross-platform patterns.

Delivery, Quality, and Collaboration

• Collaborate with Founder/CTO/Product Manager to clarify requirements, evaluate tradeoffs, and align to product goals.
• Break initiatives into technical tasks, provide estimates, and drive delivery plans.
• Maintain quality with unit testing, edge-case coverage, regression safety, and release readiness.
• Communicate progress and surface risks early with proposed solutions.

DevOps, CI/CD, and Documentation

• Configure and maintain CI/CD pipelines for mobile and related services.
• Improve deployment workflows, build reliability, and release automation.
• Write and maintain documentation (architecture notes, setup guides, runbooks, key decisions).

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software development with significant hands-on full-stack work.
• Experience owning and evolving a production codebase in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong React Native/Expo and modern JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Strong Firebase experience, especially Firestore data modeling and performance/security best practices.
• Experience integrating third-party APIs and sync workflows; Google Calendar experience is a plus.
• Strong React skills for upcoming web work and ability to share patterns across platforms.

• Direct experience with Google Calendar integration/sync workflows.
