About the role

Role Overview

Lead Frontend Engineer at FINN (fully remote). This is a hands-on role (80–90% coding) where you lead the frontend team (currently 2–3 engineers) while staying deeply involved in the codebase.

What You’ll Own

Own the entire frontend codebase built with Angular 17+, TypeScript, Ionic/Capacitor, and Firebase
Ship and maintain the native Android app via Capacitor (and help expand to iOS later)
Turn Figma designs into responsive, performant, pixel-perfect UIs
Architect reusable components and keep a clean, scalable codebase
Drive performance optimization (rendering, lazy loading, bundle size, API efficiency)
Define and maintain a testing strategy:
- Unit: Jest
- E2E: Playwright/Cypress
Run feature flags and support A/B testing flows
Lead code reviews and enforce frontend best practices
Manage lightweight people leadership: 1:1s, unblock the team, mentor, and set tech direction
Collaborate daily with backend, product, and design
Stay current with modern Angular/Ionic ecosystem practices

What You Bring

6+ years frontend development, including 3–4 years with modern Angular on high-traffic consumer products
Cross-platform mobile experience, ideally Capacitor/Ionic
Strong TypeScript, RxJS, and state management experience (NgRx or similar)
Strong product/design execution (pixel-perfect implementation from Figma)
Performance optimization experience (e.g., Lighthouse ~95+, bundle analysis, lazy loading, memoization)
Testing discipline (Jest + component/unit tooling, Playwright/Cypress)
Experience mentoring or technically leading small frontend teams (formal or informal)
Fluent English and strong communication
Ability to work ≥35h/week with overlap with UTC+8 (Singapore time)

Nice to Have

Shipped production Ionic/Capacitor apps to App Store and Play Store
Experience with financial services APIs or regulated environments
Firebase expertise (Auth, Firestore, Cloud Functions, Hosting)
Lottie / advanced animations
CI/CD with GitHub Actions
Additional frontend ecosystem tools (e.g., Tailwind, Storybook/Chromatic)
